Fort Worth ISD normally processes an average of 45,000 such applications annually. Of those, only about 1,200 were completed online. Applications completed online will normally be approved within 2 business days. Paper applications can take as long as 10 days to verify.

The online process also prevents errors when enrolling foster children. The electronic application ensures foster parents are directed to the correct pages and would allow submission until the information is correct.

Fort Worth ISD provides breakfast and lunch in all schools and snacks for schools with after-school programs.  Healthy food choices are offered in coordination with the Texas State Public Schools Nutrition Policy, which regulates nutrients in food items (reducing fat, sugar and salt content).

An information sheet answering most questions about the reduced and free meal program is provided during the online application process.
